What SRC Means And How it Works?

SRC stands for Student Representative Council. The SRC is the major governing body for students in every tertiary institution. Just like in any governing body, there are a number of seats for which the council members must be elected.

The election is done through a strict and well-governed electoral process. Usually, all students must take part in the election process to elect their council members.

Most of the time, external bodies are hired to oversee the election from the beginning to its final result. This is to ensure there is a fair election.

After the election, the newly elected members then go under oath to serve the students by strictly following the guidelines in the SRC constitution.

The SRC is a very important structure in very tertiary institutions per the Higher Education Act. So the institutions can’t do without it.
